Third - HOW TALKING IS GOING TO SAVE THE WORLD

Text - How Talking is Going to Save the World

"In our last little video clip entitled OVERPOPULATION TODAY, we asked viewers to consider the question: who can be qualified to measure the scope of intelligence? No doubt those who have not given up are still dutifully researching the question.

Humanity, the self-regarding possessor of great intelligence, is constantly said by its experts to be very, very old. Is it old enough, now, to take a straight look at itself as a unitary phenomenon, a single pseudo-species, with however many relatively small differences? Or will the Imbrat, the tyrant in each and every individual, ensure it can never hope to have that kind of cohesiveness?

We really have got to be able to put two and two together if we want to make four, and that need not obscure the fact that humanity is victim to its own raging, can't-help-it craving. In our overcrowded world, there is a nostalgie de la boue, that is, a great urge for depravity and death-for-all. All over the world you see such an obsession with sexual fantasy, the 'hotty-grotty,' as the principle meaning of life - and the source of a vast number of very funny jokes, not to mention vast numbers of involuntary newcomers!

For the human being, haunted by death, worried to the point of sickness and insanity, the One Noble Truth is Self-Indulgence, the perpetual quest for bigger and better sensations. What's wrong with that? Well, the whole human experience is shot through (no pun intended) with endless battles of wrong and right, or to put is baldly, interminable quarrelling over who gets the most pleasure. And that's the what it seems to be, for people. Animals share much of this wondrous experience, at least those we allow to live for a while. Perhaps it wouldn't matter so much if our activities did not help to create such heaving masses of misery as night and day call out for attention, pleading for help, begging for support, craving analgesics, many dying horrible deaths. The authorities are here to help and to hinder and the rich and important, busy with their guilt-edged pleasures, carefully choose their beneficiaries.

But if we were to list all the negative attributes of humanity they would far outweigh the positive aspects, and those negative aspects have to be ignored or suppressed in order for us to be able to carry on cheerfully with our collective efforts to turn the world into ourself. Heads of state will meet interminable to bang their heads together, nations will be mentioned over and again, and efforts will be praised, or more likely censured ad nauseam. One has to hope that some good will emerge from their well-fed deliberations, even if it seems so very unlikely that anything they do will make a blind bit of difference to mankind's innate tendency to make bad history.

It seems necessary to use this kind of language to cover a substantial area of experience in a few minutes and without excess verbosity. Citing statistics and percentages is of absolutely no use if we are intent on getting to the heart of the mystery and meaning of existence. Thank you for bearing with me through this raptor's view of our predicament. Please visit me again soon for further views, and perhaps, ways and means."
